First chocolate factories

With the lapse of time the number of plantations in Europe increased a lot and the production of chocolate became the ordinary industry thanks to which this product became available to the great number of people. In 1659 the first chocolate factory was built and in the middle of 18th century the first confectionery appeared in Paris where visitors could drink their favourite drink. And by 1798 there were already more than 500 confectioneries in the capital of France. And in Great Britain Chocolate Houses became more popular than coffee houses.

Till the beginning of the 19th century chocolate was drank only as liquid drink. But in 1819 the first chocolate bar was created in Switzerland. And the next year the first factory on production of chocolate bars was built. Soon the chocolate factories were built all over Europe and technologies and equipment for its production were rapidly improving.

In the end of 19th century Daniel Peter mixed the chocolate with condensed milk. In such way the first milk chocolate was created and was called Swiss chocolate as it was invented in Switzerland.

Besides, special equipment was created that allowed to decrease the number of wet in the chocolate. People started to invent new recipes of cooking chocolate. They used their fantasy adding nuts, spices, wine and fruits to it.

The greatest result of appearance of chocolate factories was the spread of chocolate among ordinary people.
